The District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) has organized a Food Programs Committee for the 2024-25 school year and beyond, to support SD57 staff with feedback on Feeding Futures and other food programs in our elementary and secondary schools.
This is new funding from the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care that started with the Student and Family Affordability Fund (SFAF) in 2022. Our public schools are a great place to provide practical supports to children including breakfast and lunch. Nutrition and food security are key to student success in the classroom.
Our Committee is evaluating what is being done in schools now, how Feeding Futures has increased food distribution, and the role that PACs and parents have in growing access to food for all students in all schools.
If you’d like to be a Food Ambassador for your elementary or secondary school, join our Committee! It would be great to get 1-2 representatives from all 40 schools.
