All Parents are invited to this event on Monday, June 2 at 7:00pm at Van Bien Training and Development Centre. A chance to dream big about your child’s education!
Please note, this is not a DPAC event, it is hosted by the Institute for Public Education BC. Please direct your questions to them.
Our Hopes & Dreams for Public Education
What are your hopes and dreams for public schools in Prince George? We know that there are many issues – staffing shortages, chronic underfunding, inadequate support for students, and overcrowding, to name just a few.
We seem to be caught in a continual cycle of trying to protect what we have, even though it never seems to be enough. We’re constantly faced with accepting a glass that’s half full or half empty. But isn’t it time we also talked about our aspirations for our public schools? What would a glass filled to overflowing look like? Let’s talk about it together.
We especially value the opportunities to connect workers in the K-12 system with parents in order to build a meaningful movement for public education. Please join us!
The Institute for Public Education/BC (IPE/BC), a non-profit and non-partisan organization, is conducting a community engagement research project to find out British Columbians’ hopes and dreams for our public education system. IPE/BC has already heard from hundreds of people across BC and will be publishing a report with recommendations to use in advocating for public education throughout the province.
We hope that Prince George parents, teachers, support staff, administrators, students, and others will add their voices. This event is graciously supported by CUPE local 3742, The PGDTA, District 57 Parent Advisory Council and the Institute for Public Education.
