We had a very productive meeting at Van Bien Training Centre last night (Nov 13). We enjoyed Subway sandwiches, cookies, drinks, did some introductions (name tags), and then got to work! There were 9 different PACs working hard on understanding and updating their Constitution and Bylaws. This task is not easy, but your parent community (and DPAC) thanks you for doing this important work!
We learned from Gillian’s 15 years of experience at PAC, DPAC, and BCCPAC, that your Constitution and Bylaws guides your work, protects from fraud and knowledge gaps, and prevents issues and misunderstanding. We are all volunteers doing our best, with parenting and life priorities coming first, but we also have a Code of Ethics and Conduct to follow so we do our part to support the group.

If you need a Word template or other resources, let us know (info@sd57dpac.ca). DPAC is happy to proofread your documents and provide recommendations. If you haven’t reviewed/updated in the last year, the time is NOW!
BIG POINT! There are certain items that must be included, but there is no right/wrong way to do this. The Constitution and Bylaws will be unique to your PAC and parent community. Simply document how you want things to run and follow them!
