Join the discussion on human rights in B.C.
The Government of British Columbia is re-establishing the B.C. Human Rights Commission. Your stories, ideas and concerns can help shape the role, functions and priorities of the new commission. Participate online and talk to Parliamentary Secretary Ravi Kahlon about what matters to you.
The B.C. Human Rights Commission engagement will be carried out between September 20 and November 17, 2017. There are several ways to participate in this process:
- New public discussion topics will be presented regularly. This forum is moderated and responses are publicly visible. The public online discussion will be open for feedback until November 17, 2017 at 4 p.m. at engage.gov.bc.ca/bchumanrights
- Interested groups and individuals are invited to provide a written submission by November 17, 2017 to BCHumanRights@gov.bc.ca
- Organization’s written submissions will be posted publicly on this site.
- The Parliamentary Secretary will meet personally with some stakeholders and citizens to collect their stories and feedback.
BC Cannabis Regulation
Federal legalization of non-medical cannabis is coming next year.
In preparation, the provincial government is working on how to regulate the product once the Government of Canada makes it legal. The provincial government’s approach is to focus on protecting young people, making health and safety a priority, keeping cannabis out of the hands of criminals, and keeping our roads safe.
To further support the Province’s cannabis engagement initiative, an online cannabis engagement site has been launched. This site provides valuable information regarding non-medical cannabis regulation and includes helpful links to cannabis related reports and publications. A feedback form on the site enables all British Columbians to share their views about non-medical cannabis directly with the Province. The engagement site is: http://engage.gov.bc.ca/BCcannabisregulation
