SD57 Food Security Engagement [Mar 12]

Our next DPAC Food Programs Committee meeting with SD57 Feeding Futures (Monica Berra) is on Wednesday, March 12th from 12:00pm – 1:00pm.

We will discuss Food Security Engagement. Particularly looking at the new BC School Food Toolkit being launched early March. Familiarize yourself with the information on this site:

Monica Berra will have a presentation and then ask for input from parents.

We are working on these 5 Guiding Principles:

  1. Students have access to food daily in an equitable, accessible, and non-stigmatizing manner.
  2. Programs support BC foods to grow local communities, economies, and food system resilience.
  3. Programs are flexible, adaptable, and respectful of local contexts and needs.
  4. Students have access to nutritious and culturally preferred foods to support healthy development & learning.
  5. Programs centre and include students, families, First Nation Rightsholders, Indigenous partners, and community members in decision-making & program delivery.

Parent Ambassador Role:
Gather information from school Principal, Food Services Worker, and PAC to report to DPAC Food Programs Committee and Feeding Futures regarding funding used for Food Security Engagement within SD57.

This is open to people who have attended or viewed the recording (Jan 22) to receive a good understanding of the Feeding Futures program and our role as a Committee. Please only have a maximum of 2 parents per school.

Thank you!
