Our DPAC Meeting on Monday, February 3rd had a great turnout. We were thankful for the online option for many to stay home on a cold winter night!
The theme was Mental Health/Student Supports with a presentation from Lisa Horswell the Director of Instruction – Inclusive Education.
The presentation from Inclusive Education included SD57’s Continuum of Support with services for students on Tier 1 (all 50%), Tier 2 (some 15%), and Tier 3 (few 5%). This included detailed information on psychological educational assessments and how Priority 1-4 is allocated. Parents and students can access mental health support at schools or through the Open Parachute site. “Knowing the school system and operating within it makes you a powerful advocate for your child.” DPAC can help you navigate the system and advocate through the proper channels.
There were other updates on FoodSafe, Food Programs Committee, Long Range Facilities Plan, and upcoming Before and After School Care presentation.
