The Board of Education is inviting feedback from the public regarding 2024/2025 budget priorities in order to inform the budget process. The 2024/25 Annual Budget is prepared over several months and completed in June. The district is projected to receive $199 million in revenue of which 95% comes from the Provincial Government. Of the revenue received, currently 85% is spent on operating, administering and maintaining the schools and district facilities.
There is currently an operating budget shortfall of approximately $2 million dollars. The Board is therefore considering reductions to expenses for its submission of a balanced budget to the Ministry of Education and Child Care. The Board’s focus is to ensure available resources support the Strategic Plan and student success.
