We will be meeting in-person at Van Bien Training Centre or online on MS Teams at 6:30pm. \n[DOWNLOAD AGENDA] \nOur theme is Rural Schools in Mackenzie and McBride. We will be hearing from Principals and PACs from the elementary and secondary schools in these remote communities. We would like to hear about the successes and challenges they face in their areas related to education and community/family engagement. \nThe SD57 District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) serves a large geographic area including Mackenzie and McBride. We hope to make more connections with parents and PACs in these areas. DESCRIPTION:RESCHEDULED \nWe had to reschedule our next DPAC Food Programs Committee meeting with SD57 Feeding Futures (Monica Berra) to Wednesday\, March 12th from 12:00pm – 1:00pm (not Feb 26). \nWe will discuss Food Security Engagement. Particularly looking at the new BC School Food Toolkit being launched early March. Familiarize yourself with the information on this site: \n\nBC School Food Toolkit – Building Healthy Inclusive School Food Environments \nMonica Berra will have a presentation and then ask for input from parents. \n\nWe are working on these 5 Guiding Principles: \n\n\nStudents have access to food daily in an equitable\, accessible\, and non-stigmatizing manner.\nPrograms support BC foods to grow local communities\, economies\, and food system resilience.\nPrograms are flexible\, adaptable\, and respectful of local contexts and needs.\nStudents have access to nutritious and culturally preferred foods to support healthy development & learning.\nPrograms centre and include students\, families\, First Nation Rightsholders\, Indigenous partners\, and community members in decision-making & program delivery.\n\nParent Ambassador Role:\nGather information from school Principal\, Food Services Worker\, and PAC to report to DPAC Food Programs Committee and Feeding Futures regarding funding used for Food Security Engagement within SD57. \nThis is open to people who have attended or viewed the recording (Jan 22) to receive a good understanding of the Feeding Futures program and our role as a Committee.
